Bye bye wallpaper (for now)...

Well the main parts of the set went across to the stage today so now we've got all the other wee extra bits to finish off. I've moved onto the brick wall now which is seen through the patio doors in the middel truck. I mixed the 4 different colours, put a wash over them and dry brushed a little white for some texture. Next was to artex the top bricks. I hadn't used artex since Kaspar Hauser, so it was nice to get my hands dirty again.
Then i put a browny wash over and drybrushed som white on top again.

A wee walk...

I went for a nice wee walk today, although didnt last too long as my muscles were still aching from Chinese pole.
My wee thinking spot... Ma Pitlochry pals..

Chinese pole...

I went to my first chinese pole class yesterday at the Briggait with Moritz Linkmann. I've done a bit of aerial and acrobalance before so was really keen to have a go at this. It was a whole new set of techniques learn and the climbing was pretty tough. I had a really great time and want to do it again some point however my wee body is definitely feeling it today! Crazy chinese...
From the show Psy I went to see in Boston earlier this year... They make it look so easy! Here are my souveniers from the class, poor wee bruised knees... (worth it though)

The walk home and veggie fajitas...

On my walk home the other night I took this wee snap from the Pitlochry dam. There are so many nice places to go for a wee walk to clear you head... We've started doing a wee come dine with me thing with a couple of other girls from the theatre. Myself and Alison joined forces for our one as I couldn't really have people over to my place. We went for veggie fajitas, salad and cheesecake- yum yum....
our wee dinner table...
who ate all the crisps?
allie's lovely salad...
tasty veggies...

Woo woo woo woodgraining....

Nice to get a wee bit of woodgraining done again. The designer was very keen we used the metal combs to do it rather than brushes, its been quite difficult as the are alot of angles in the wood and its hard to get the comb in and keep it straight. Its uite a long process to get the final finish on it too, base coat, glaze, grain coat, yellow wash, red wash, glaze. Ah the challenges of a scenic artist....

Supermoooon!

It was the supermoon tonight!
The closest the moon has been to the earth in almost 2 decades!
I didnt actually manage to catch it as it would have been at the its biggest(while its rising) but whenI saw it later, it did look a little bigger and brighter!

While I was looking for some information on it, I came across these wee gems....

The wallpaper saga continues...

We've been struggling a little to get our technique right for the wall paper. The idea is that there is a base layer then we put on the top coat and wipe it off so that the embossed parts are the lightest. This is our sample...
It works fine on a small sample but when we try to transfer it onto a larger scale it seems to go all patchy and its hard to get the same amount of paint of everytime- VERY FRUSTRATING!

I'm sure we'll crack it eventually but its not quite happening yet...

Wallpapering...

I have returned to the lovely Pitlochry theatre!
There are six shows in their sumer season and we currently have 4 to paint so I got stuck in straight away doing some wallpapering.
I haven't done that much before so its always nice to refresh my skills!
Its embossed paper witha pattern so theres lots of matching up to do, aswell as papering round little corners- a nice little challange as i see it...

interesting spelling Marianne...

Its good to be back...
